Established in 2022, following the league's move from Airdrie to Calgary. Due to the leagues relocation, a few teams folded so the CTBL was left with only five teams and a huge pool of new players looking to get in. All of the remaining teams rosters were full at the time so the league decided to take a page out of the book of a similar league in East Vancouver and create a new team with all the new recruits and what occured was magical. The "Upstart" Black Sox, after ending up with only two wins and a tie in the 2022 season made their way through the post season making it to the final game against the juggernauts of the CTBL, the Balzac Uestas. They came up short against their mighty opponents 5-3. Quite the feat against a team that pretty much "dimes" everyone. Their second season(2023) saw them making immense improvements that propelled the team to a 12-2 record and once again advancing through the post season to the inaugural three game "Chinook Series" against the Uestas for a championship rematch. Though they came up short losing Game 3 by a single run, the Sox proved to be a highly competitive team. The Southsiders look to continue improving in 2024 and beyond to fulfill their goal of winning a championship.
